For as long as I can remember, my paintings were surreal in nature. I always painted this way; even before knowing what surrealism was. It seems I was naturally drawn to it. For instance, similar to automatism, I would just start drawing and allow images to come through all on their own. The same is true for my approach today. Although there is some planning involved in my paintings, for the most part, I more or less just let things happen. I also try not to allow any pre-conceived notions or moral judgments impede my creative flow. I paint to explore the hidden realms of the psyche, to express the anguish and beauty of life and just to see “What will happen if I try this?” Sometimes, these experimental ventures flop, but there are times when synchronicity or chance can create serendipitous results.

Over the years, it has been a pleasure collaborating with surrealists and hosting a Guest Gallery with hundreds of surreal art submissions from around the world. Also, through my internet travels, I have found surrealist groups and individuals (writers and intellectuals) who are part of an ongoing surrealist project who (put simply) are dedicated to "changing life", questioning the way we think and exposing the nonsense that we are perhaps unwittingly controlled by. On a final note, if you’re an artist and consider your work to be surreal or at least in the spirit of surrealism, then you are welcome to submit your art into the Guest Gallery.
